All are welcome to our programme celebrating older people in the Albert-Eden local board area. Our themes for programming are community, connection, contribution.
Events will take place between 23 September to 6 October 2024.
All events are FREE to attend, but some may require registration.

Gribblehirst Repair Cafe
Give your broken consumer items a chance at new life by bringing them to our Repair Cafe! Our volunteer repairers will do their best to help fix your items and keep them out of landfill for longer. We may be able to help with clothing/textiles, woodwork, bikes, electrical and general repairs. If you have skills to share, please get in touch to volunteer, email coordinator@ghub.nz

Generation Celebration!
Join us for a day full of fun, food and family as we celebrate International Day of Older Persons.
Seniors Climate Action - Come and join!
Seniors have a lot to offer in the climate action space - so much life experience and knowledge that can create change. We are a new group coming to together to decide what and how we will take action. Come and chat at our stall and join our group for future gatherings and opportunities.
The Kelly Fit - Free Strength and Balance Class
We are celebrating the International Day of Older people with a free strength and balance class followed by some morning tea. Hosted by Kelly from The Kelly Fit.
The exercises are designed for different mobility and exercise levels. My aim is to help people live more independently for longer and to prevent falls.

DISHA NZ is excited to host a special event on the 2nd of October celebrating International Day of Older Persons (IDOP). Attendees can look forward to an engaging and vibrant gathering filled with entertainment, delicious and healthy food, and plenty of fun and other joyful activities. The event promises to bring the community together, including younger generation, offering a lively atmosphere where our seniors can connect, enjoy cultural performances, sing, dance, interact with children and celebrate the spirit of togetherness. The World of Urban Sketching

Casablanca Craft-along Cinema

Bridging Generations - The Sandringham Stories
A project celebrating International Day of Older Persons, where local media and journalism students from MAGS will interview and document the life stories of some of our older community members. These interviews will explore their childhoods, careers, and life experiences, highlighting the diversity and richness of our community.
The project will produce vibrant portraits and videos showcasing the unique characters and energy of the participants, which will be displayed in a community exhibition.

From The Heart is an exhibition which showcases a range of member’s artworks created at The Ōwairaka Community Club. The works are for sale with all the proceeds going to the artists. The exhibition takes place during Mental Health Awareness Week; the theme for this year is Community is… what we create together.
The Ōwairaka Community Club provides a non-clinical, creative space for adults with lived experience of mental health issues. It is a safe and inclusive space where members are encouraged to explore their own creativity, as a way to help maintain and enhance their well-being. This space also provides a sense of community by encouraging meaningful social connection amongst members and kaimahi.

All welcome to a fun day hosted by the Epsom Chinese Association. Including performances to celebrate the achievements of those who have been through the regular physical activity programme on Wednesdays. There will be lucky draws and shared food for all. Positive Ageing
Positive Ageing refers to maintaining a happy lifestyle, staying healthy, positive attitude and feel good about themselves throughout their lives as they age.
Our activities include universal prayer, thought of the day, Exercise approved by the balanced trainer programme, discussion on any topic, singing, dances, games, speech by our social worker etc
We serve morning tea with snacks after exercise and a healthy vegetarian meal after the event is over every activity day.
